Staff Spotlight
June “Jun” Quanico
“Jun” is short for Junior after his father. A big sports fan, Jun would have loved to meet legends like Jerry Rice, Stephen Curry, or Barry Bonds. Outside of sports, he enjoys backpacking and winemaking, and once a year treats himself to a Porterhouse Steak at Westlake Joe’s. In 2004, Jun was part-owner and head chef of a vegan restaurant called Feel Real Organic Café.
Beyond the kitchen, he even tackled carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work to help build and maintain the space, skills he’s proud of to this day. Jun’s favorite music includes Donny Hathaway’s Extension of a Man, Marvin Gaye’s What’s Going On, and Bob Marley’s Natty Dread. He also loved watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
His favorite holiday is Halloween, made even more special because his birthday falls on October 30th, a day he shared with his grandmother. One of his fondest childhood memories is her telling him he could dress up and get all the free candy he wanted for his birthday, a tradition that still makes Halloween his favorite celebration.
Guiding Vision: Organizing enriching trips and outings, hosting impactful fundraising events, and actively advocating while engaging with our community to foster greater unity and cohesion.
