Pomeroy’s person-centered approach empowers participants to build their own schedules, explore new interests, and set personal goals. We celebrate diversity, respect individual choice, and support lifelong learning for people of all abilities.

Staff Spotlight

Katy Dyas

Katy grew up outdoors, spending her childhood hiking, swimming, and riding horses alongside a menagerie of pets -dogs, cats, parrots, lizards, ferrets, and even geese. Though she jokes she has no hobbies, she thrives on adventure, especially through travel.

Some of her favorite places to visit are Chicago (a favorite despite the winters), New Zealand, Ireland, London, Maui, and Île-de-Ré in France. Her favorite memory? Whale watching in Cabo. Next up: New York and, hopefully, Frankfurt, Boston, Lake Baikal, and a horseback safari in Botswana.

Katy’s favorite movies include The Lion King, Now & Then, Drop Dead Gorgeous, Wild Hearts Can’t Be Broken, and Notting Hill. Her playlists span Broadway, ’90s country, hip-hop, and true crime podcasts.

She found the Pomeroy Center while job hunting after earning her degree in Recreation Therapy. Though initially drawn to rehab and adaptive sports, her experience at Pomeroy shifted her focus to building community - work she now feels deeply connected to.

Guiding Vision: Organizing enriching trips and outings, hosting impactful fundraising events, and actively advocating while engaging with our community to foster greater unity and cohesion.
