Staff Spotlight

Crystal Aburto

Crystal takes great pride in her heritage, with her father from Lima, Peru and her mother from Guadalajara, Mexico. She has traveled to both of her home countries and loves connecting with her roots, enjoying traditional dishes, and spending meaningful time with family.

A dream trip of hers would be to Italy, where her father has lived for over ten years, so they could explore Europe together. Crystal has a sweet spot for chocolate-covered peanuts or almonds, along with sour candies like Sour Patch Kids and Sour Skittles. Family means everything to her, and she finds the most joy in spending time with her large, close-knit family and watching all the kids, including her daughter, grow up together. Christmas is her favorite holiday, and her playlist is just as lively as she is — featuring Bad Bunny, Bob Marley, and Mac Dre. Crystal grew up in La Mission, San Francisco, a culturally rich neighborhood that shaped her values and pride in community. Nearly seven years ago, she was referred to the Center by Marilyn Teeter, who saw her nurturing nature, outgoing personality, and witty charisma — qualities that continue to shine in all that she does today.

Guiding Vision: Organizing enriching trips and outings, hosting impactful fundraising events, and actively advocating while engaging with our community to foster greater unity and cohesion.
