The Beauty and Importance of Flowers at The Pomeroy Center

At The Pomeroy Center, flowers are not just a visual delight; they represent growth, beauty, and a sense of peace for all who visit. For our founder, Janet Pomeroy, flowers held a special place in her heart. Her love for roses, in particular, symbolized the strength and resilience of the individuals she worked with, reminding us of the beauty that can bloom even in challenging times. The rose, often associated with love and care, serves as a perfect representation of the spirit of Janet Pomeroy Center.

This spring, we're excited to share that a variety of flowers are being planted around the center. Bright, colorful blooms are filling the landscape, with special attention to roses, of course! The garden is not only a space of beauty but also a place of reflection, where everyone can connect with nature and each other. Whether you enjoy watching the flowers bloom or helping tend to them, there’s a little something for everyone to enjoy and cherish.

Staff Spotlight

Christina Ramos

Christina is all about family! She loves spending time with her kids, especially taking them to new places. When she's not with family, she enjoys cooking and trying out new foods, as well as attending music concerts. She's also a regular on the co-ed softball team on Monday nights.

Known for her infectious laugh and radiant personality, Christina brings joy to everyone around her. She feels incredibly lucky to be part of the center, saying, "This is my favorite job yet. The center has taught me so much, and my friends here have taught me even more. This is truly a family, and they make my job so easy with all their love and attention. I can't believe we call this work." With 5 years of experience and 6 more coming up in September, Christina has found a place where she can truly thrive.

She’s met some incredible people, like Lil Fizz from B2K, Jerry Rice, Willie Mays, and Carlos Santana, and dreams of vacationing in Bora Bora, where she can relax in a bungalow overlooking the water. But she admits that after a week of pure relaxation, she’d probably miss her kids.

Christina’s also a culinary expert, known for making the best lasagna and a potato salad that has earned her quite the reputation.

The Community Council describes her as a calm, unflappable presence—always cool as a cucumber—and an amazing friend and co-worker. With her adorable puppy, two sons, and warm personality, Christina is loved by all. Her sense of style and radiant smile only add to her beauty, making her someone everyone is lucky to know!

Guiding Vision: Organizing enriching trips and outings, hosting impactful fundraising events, and actively advocating while engaging with our community to foster greater unity and cohesion.
