Able Gardeners

Able Gardners is a vocational program at the Pomeroy Center that provides landscaping and groundskeeping services to both residential and commercial customers. Since 1992, the Pomeroy Able Gardeners have been beautifying San Francisco and San Mateo County with their exceptional gardening skills. If you’re looking to clean up your yard or continue maintenance throughout the year, our team is available to help.

Residential Living

In 2019, the Pomeroy Center and Helpers Community, Inc. formed a partnership to open two residential homes for up to 11 adults with intellectual disabilities, plus on-site staff. Helpers own the properties, and Pomeroy leases, staffs, and populates the homes, which are located across from Golden Gate Park. The lack of affordable care homes for adults with intellectual disabilities is a huge problem in San Francisco. These two organizations are working to make safe places for as many people with disabilities as possible.

Brainstorm

Brainstorm is a unique social recreation and community integration program that serves adults who have an acquired or traumatic brain injury (TBI/ABI). Participants enjoy a diverse selection of classes that help them develop or relearn valuable skills needed to function as independently as possible in the community. The social support and peer encouragement provided by Brainstorm helps brain injury survivors to feel less alone and cope with the daily frustrations and feelings of loss that many experience.

Programs are offered at the Pomeroy Recreation & Rehabilitation Center on Mondays from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm for ages 40-65 and on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm for ages 22 to 55. Participants also have access to our therapeutic pool, community outings, wilderness trips, and retreats.

PLEASE NOTE: Half days are available.
